BENEFITS: Therapeutic massage offers a drug-free, non-invasive approach based on the body's natural ability to heal itself from acute or chronic illness and injury such as:
Age related conditions Depression Neck and Shoulder pain Arthritis (osteo & rheumatoid) Fibromyalgia Reduced range of motion Asthma Gastrointestinal disorders Sleep disorders Back pain Headaches (ie. tension or migraine) Sports injuries Carpal tunnel syndrome High Blood Pressure Strains & Sprains Chronic and acute pain Immune function disorders Stress Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Insomnia TMJ dysfunction Circulatory problems Myofascial Pain
To inquire about a condition not listed above, to ask for scientific documentation and/or to discuss your particular difficulty in detail, please contact me! An increasing number of research studies show massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion and increases endorphins (enhancing traditional medical treatment). And, although therapeutic massage by itself cannot increase muscle strength, it can stimulate weak, inactive muscles partially compensating for the lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury. In addition, adding neuromuscular re-education techniques for those clients with some muscle control, muscles can gain strength and definition. Massage can also hasten and lead to a more complete recovery from exercise stress or injuries. Please go to "Massage Definitions" to view the types of Massage Therapy practiced in my office.
Contraindications can include certain forms of cancer, Phlebitis, some cardiac problems, some skin conditions, and infectious diseases.
