1. Do I have to be draped? Yes, although we can use minimal draping such as a small towel, rather than a sheet.
2. Can I bring my own supplies? You are welcome to bring your own sheets, blanket, music, or hypoallergenic lotion, just ask.
3. What if my body isn't perfect? All body types & sizes, and most conditions are welcome on my table. We are all created perfectly, just in different ways. With over 10,000 hours of massage experience, there is little that I haven't already worked with, if you are concerned, please email or call me.
4. How often do I need to come in for a massage? This varies widely from person to person. For some clients, a 30 to 60 minute massage once every 7-14 days is critical to their physical and/or emotional health. For others, the return time depends on their massage goals, their bodies response to massage therapy, age, activity levels, willingness to do homework (stretches, etc), starting condition, work/play/sleep habits, stress levels and many other variables. Most clients maximize their response to massage by returning 2-4 times within the first few weeks, followed by increasing time between sessions to reach their optimal maitenance level. For the average baby boomer in average condition, with average health issues (zero to two chronic pains), without an acute incidence, a maintenance level of one massage every 4-7 weeks is sufficient.
5. Can you tell me what is going on with me? No and Yes. Diagnosing health issues is outside of the scope of my practice. I can, however, offer an opinion based on experience & suggest an appropriate solution or health care professional to help you.
6. What if you can't help me? I am glad to offer a free consultation to discuss your health first, and then, if after 15 minutes of massage I believe that I cannot help you, I will discuss this with you, offer referrals & suggestions, and you will not be charged.
7. I have special needs, can you accommodate me? Usually, all special needs can be accommodated. For example, should a client prefer almost total silence, we can arrange an appointment time when the building is quiet. Wheelchair access is available. If trapped trauma results in emotional responses, we can arrange a time involving the least embarrassment. Please feel free to ask about your special needs.
8. Can my spouse/partner be in the room with us? If you would like someone to observe the massage in order to learn the techniques that work best on you, this needs to be arranged ahead of time and may involve an additional charge. If you are working on trust issues, I may accommodate a non-obstrusive observer the first several massages until you are comfortable.
9. Do you do out-calls? The short answer is no. The reality is, I may consider out calls on a temporary basis, under the following conditions: I've seen you regularly. You temporarily cannot travel to me for health reasons. Therapeutic massage is necessary for your return to optimal health. You are a short distance away. I find the space you are in to be a comfortable working environment.
10. Are you willing do anything other than legitimate therapeutic massage on me? No. Move your cursor to the far upper right corner and click on the X.
